What should be your dress code when visiting Kerala for holiday

Like sightseeing, commutation, cuisines, dress is also one of the important things that you need to consider when you visit Kerala. It is very much important to dress appropriately to avoid any troubles. Dressing in the right clothes makes you feel comfortable, so that you can enjoy every activity to the fullest.

Get a general idea of type of people
There is large number of Hindus, the Muslims, and the Christians who live in Kerala. People here are of an orthodox thinking. They are very traditional when it comes to values. Thus, it is very important to know the traditional dress code of people in this state.
It is advisable to have a general idea about the attitude of the local people, and their dressing style when visiting this state. Kerala Tour Packages makes all arrangement related to commutation, accommodation, food, sight-seeing, etc. for their clients. This helps you enjoy your holiday without any worries.

What is the main type of dresses by Keralites?
The common and traditional dress worn by women in Kerala is saree or churidar suit. In case of men, their typical attire is shirt and pant/mundu. With passing years, the dress has witnessed a major change. It seems that people have been influenced by western culture. They have started accepting and adopting European culture. You can find many youngsters wearing tops, Bermuda (3/4th pants) and shorts.
Dress accordingly for the weather
Summer season
During the summer months, one can feel hot and humid. This is also the main season during which most of the tourists come to this state. In such weather, it is advisable for people to wear cotton dresses. Wear clothes that are made up of airy and thin material. Choose loose fitting clothes for the months ranging between October and May.
Rainy season
Months between June and October are considered to be wet months. This is the monsoon season. In this season, it is very important to wear only those clothes that can dry quickly. Ensure that you always carry an umbrella, electric torch, and hat whenever you go out. There is special type of shoes and slippers available for men and women in the monsoon season. Ensure that you buy them to avoid any form of discomfort or slipping.
Dress according to the place
You need to be appropriately dressed when visiting a holy place like temple, churches or a sight-seeing spot. This is because people in Kerala are very particular when it comes to dressing. A visitor has to follow their set hard and fast dressing code to get an entry to these places.
Most of the temples only permit people inside if they wear traditional dress. One who is wearing shorts or any western costume like shorts is not permitted inside. It is very important to wear a dress that covers the legs and shoulders properly. For complete detail about acceptable clothing, it is better to ask temple officials before entering the place.
Don’t carry dresses, instead buy them
Taking different dresses along with you on a Kerala trip can become very difficult. You can buy them at a very cheaper price in the state itself.  There are several clothes shops in the big or small size of villages of Kerala where you can easily get your preferred clothing according to the season, festival, place, etc.
Conclusion
People in Kerala are very orthodox and have a traditional mindset. How one presents oneself is very important to them. So, to make your Kerala trip to be an unforgettable experience, follow these dress tips diligently and correctly.
